Co-ordination of health & safety on construction sites

Whenever more than one company and/or self-employed workers are to be involved in a job, the developer must appoint a health and safety co-ordinator for the duration of the job before work starts.

Safety Plans for construction sites

Each contractor must draw up a health & safety plan, and those plans must be approved by the health & safety co-ordinator prior to the commencement of work.

Training Plans

PREVENOR is authorised by the Construction Employment Foundation [“Fundación Laboral de la Construcción“] and the Metalworking Employment Foundation [“Fundación Laboral del Metal”] to provide training as stipulated in the 4th General Bargaining Agreement for the Construction Industry [“IV Convenio General del Sector de la Construcción”]. That training is approved for the awarding of the Construction Specialist Card [“Tarjeta Profesional de la Construcción “], which is to be compulsory as from 31/12/2011.

PREVENOR is also an approved provider of courses for specific posts as per the occupational risk prevention regulations in force, and of the skill-building course for basic level occupational risk prevention functions.

Medical check-ups

Medical check-ups must be carried out according to specific protocols for each type of job and employee.
Following these checks, individual medical certificates must be issued in proof that the worker in question is capable of performing the tasks entailed by his/her job.

Risk prevention officers

For some activities classed as hazardous, the regulations require one or more risk prevention officers to be stationed on site. Using an external risk prevention service ensures that duly qualified and trained officers are used.

Safety consultants for the transportation of hazardous goods

All carriers of hazardous goods and firms responsible for the loading and unloading of such goods must designate at least one safety consultant to help prevent the risks to persons, property and the environment entailed by their activities.

Internal Protection Plans

Firms obliged to draw up, implement and maintain in place internal protection plans must prepare the relevant document, provide training for the employees in charge of evacuation procedures and run regular drills. Records must be kept of all this.
